AGEGE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN READS RIOT ACT AGAINST REFUSE DUMP ON DRAINAGE.


Residents and business operators in Agege Local Government Area, have been urged to maintain high level of cleanliness as the management of the Local Government Council would no longer condone dirty environment.


The Executive Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi cautioned residents and business operators against emptying the content of their waste bins into the drains this raining season, as it could lead to flooding and other preventable environmental disaster.

Egunjobi reminded residents that the rainy reason can be challenging period to environment management and public health, due to speedy decomposition and possibilities of urban flooding.

He implored the residents and business operators to patronize the PSP operators designated to the council area from time to time, adding that a cleaner environment brings about a healthy living.

“Now that the rains are here, the residents need to cooperate with the council in keeping the environment clean."

“When we dump our trash indiscriminately, it affect the environment and when rains fall it pushes all the bottles, plastics, water sachets (pure water) to the drainage."

“And blocking the drainage is the commonest way of urban flooding, so residents and business operators in Agege Local Government Area need to key in more this rainy season, to maintain a clean environment,” he advised.

He concluded by admonishing residents and business operators to ensure the appropriate use of waste bins, in order to sustain a cleaner and healthier environment especially during this rainy season.
