Nneoma Ugwu becomes the only black female to graduate with a Civil Engineering Degree at UMass

Nigerian student, Nneoma Ugwu has become the only black female to graduate with a Civil Engineering Degree at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth for 2019.


The Igbo born black beautiful brained lady graduated top on her class, Friday, 10th May, with a 3.96 GPA in Civil Engineering.

Miss Ugwu said, “Likewise in Nigeria as it is in America, I knew that being a Black Female Engineer meant being a minority. I was the only black female to graduate with a Civil Engineering Degree in the Class of 2019."

I hope to one day not only improve the infrastructure in Nigeria but build bridges that make society better," she concluded.

As commencement speaker, she received a standing ovation from the #Classof2019 Pride of Lions.
