The Nigerian Police force have deployed two thousand (2000) of its men to go fight Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of Nigeria
According to the IGP on Sunday, 2nd December via a press statement, the additional Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Units (CTU) and Sniffer Dog Section are sent purely for Military Duties.
On weather this job concerns the Nigerian Police and if the military is no more relevant in this matter, they defend using Section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations which states that, "The police shall be employed for the prevention and detection of crime, the apprehension of offenders, the preservation of law and order, the protection of life and property and the due enforcement of all laws and regulations with which they are directly charged, and shall perform such military duties within or outside Nigeria as may be required of them by or under the authority of this or any other Act."

"The Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to the fight against insurgency and will do all it takes in collaboration with the Military to bring a quick end to Boko Haram insurgency and crisis in the North East, he said.
