UN Relief Chief writes to the Press

Stephen O'Brien, UN Relief Chief, writes a letter to the press, reinforcing the impartiality of the United Nations' humanitarian work in Syria, and defending the courageous work of aid workers who risk their lives to help millions in need.

“Impartiality in humanitarian terms means that we provide life-saving and life-sustaining assistance to civilians based on their humanitarian needs without consideration of where they are, which side in the conflict they may sympathise with, their nationality, social status, gender, age, religious belief or any other consideration. This fundamental notion of impartiality guides our work and is non-negotiable, in Syria or anywhere else."It is high time we start working more for the people than for brown envelopes. Let's avoid partiality in our reportage."
